Aircraft Engines and Accessories was born out of a need to revolutionise the replacement engine market in Southern Africa.

The market has traditionally been served by Aircraft Maintenance Organisations offering engine rebuild services via in-house, or contracted engine rebuilders.

The result of this has been a situation where owners are often compelled to wait for lengthy periods, with their aircraft out of service, while the engine is removed from the airframe, stripped, components machined and the engine reassembled with new wear parts.

Firm quotations at the start of the rebuild process have been impossible to obtain, and many shocks have awaited owners once the engine is disassembled and a full inspection and evaluation can be undertaken.

Incorporation of the latest service bulletins and ADs is often extremely costly.

Aircraft Engines and Accessories was founded in 2001, by Peter Lastrucci (far right), who himself a pilot, has owned and operated Experimental,  single and twin engined aircraft, and helicopters.

With past experience in setting up and managing the Passenger Car Exchange Engine operation for Mercedes-Benz in South Africa, and extensive experience in the importation of OEM components for Mercedes-Benz, coupled with over 25 years of experience in general aviation, Peter is ideally placed to offer a superior service to aircraft owners and operators.

WHAT WE DO

Aircraft Engines & Accessories are suppliers of exchange aero engines and approved Southern Africa distributors for Airpower Inc., a division of Van Bortel Aircraft in the USA, the world's #1 supplier of aircraft engines.

We also a distributor of Sky - Tec Lightweight Starters for Lycoming and Teledyne Continental aircraft engines from Sky - Tec in the USA.

We have also added the Plane Power lightweight alternators to our engine accessory range.  As from the 1 September 2007 Paul Lastrucci Peter's brother, will be marketing the Sky - Tec and Plane Power range of products.

In June 2008 we added the Tempest range of products to our line up which include the Tempest Volare Range of new, rebuilt and overhauled MSA and HA carburettors including overhaul kits and float kits, fuel and vacuum pumps.

Paul (pictured above on left) comes with many years marketing experience in the automotive industry at Toyota South Africa and at Mercedes Benz in the automotive component area.  Paul is an active pilot for the past 20 years and is well placed to continue our efforts to be the preferred supplier of Aircraft Engines and Accessories
